The Green Party has selected Tracy Stanton as its candidate in the St Ives constituency for the next General Election.
Tracy Stanton Tracy is well known locally in her role as chair of the popular St Ives September Festival. With her husband Nick, Tracy is a joint director of their IT company and is currently studying Art and Design at Cornwall College.
Tracy is a mother of four, and she has been involved in charity and community work for a number of years. She was a trustee of the National Childbirth Trust for ten years, has been a local school governor and has also volunteered for a local youth project.
Speaking after the announcement of her selection, Tracy said: ‘I am very excited to have this opportunity to champion the Green cause in West Cornwall. The Green Party has a lot to offer, with its clear principles and fresh ideas, and I am looking forward to campaigning on this agenda in the run-up to the election, whenever it is called.’
She continued: ‘While the Green Party’s stance on environmental issues is very important to me, its stance on wider social issues is just as relevant in West Cornwall. I also believe passionately in the need to tackle poor housing, low wages, more support for families, and greater equality in the workplace.’
