With food prices on the increase, there is growing interest in local food production. More than thirty residents are calling for allotments to be provided in the town, and St Ives Town Council has been investigating potential sites in the area.

The recent sharp increases in the price of fuel have highlighted how important it is to provide as many goods and services as possible at a local level. This not only helps hard pressed families reduce their travel expenditure but it also helps to sustain strong local communities.

Unitary Council? No Thanks!

The proposal for a single, unitary council for Cornwall is a recipe for ‘remote control’ and will undermine local democracy. Public opinion is overwhelmingly opposed to a single council, as demonstrated by the recent referendum, in which a massive 81% of people voted against the idea.
